WERNER EQUINE – HISTORY

About-Us-History2In 1979, Dr. Harry Werner created Werner Equine to offer skilled veterinary care for horses in southern New England and New York. Werner Equine’s patient caseload reflects our focus on lameness, prepurchase examination, medical cases, referral consultations, diagnostic imaging, acupuncture and wellness care.

We provide veterinary services on-farm (Ambulatory), In-Clinic (Outpatient) and in our Hospital.

Our many years of experience, strong bonds with other equine professionals and commitment to updated veterinary knowledge enable us to provide skilled patient care and exceptional client service.

Werner Equine maintains close ties to the American Association of Equine Practitioners, a 10,000 member non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse.  AAEP is actively involved in veterinary ethics and welfare issues, equine research and continuing education for horse owners, farriers and the veterinary profession.

Currently involved in equine welfare and public policy efforts at AAEP, Dr. Werner is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association Welfare Committee. He serves on the board of the World Equine Veterinary Association and is AVMA Liaison to the Unwanted Horse Coalition. He participates in Project Samana, the working equid (horses, donkeys, mules, etc.) welfare project in the Dominican Republic.

In 2013, Dr. Werner was elected to the International Equine Veterinarians Hall of Fame sponsored by the American Farriers Journal.

Dr. Werner’s long-standing relationships with veterinary colleagues and associations link Werner Equine to a valuable, supportive network of international experts in veterinary medicine.

Our goal at Werner Equine is to help you keep your horse healthy and active via timely and appropriate veterinary care.
